Nobody who walks into our kitchen guesses this is a speaker. It is a Bang & Olufsen Beosound 2 in brushed brass, and this is my Beosound 2 wall mount in our DIY IKEA SEKTION kitchen: an STB bracket into the studs, with the power cable hidden behind our in-wall iPad. I planned it while the walls were still open, so nothing shows. Here is the placement, the bracket, the power solution and how it sounds.

Key takeaways
- Mounted at about 70 inches to clear a busy kitchen walkway, higher than B&O’s 42–48 inch guidance, and it still sounds clean
- STB bracket into the studs with four 2″ screws, speaker secured from below with three supplied screws
- Power taken from the outlet behind the in-wall iPad, cord routed inside the wall, nothing visible
- Controlled by the B&O app and a Beoremote Halo, grouped with a Beosound A9 and other B&O speakers
| Install at a glance | |
|---|---|
| Speaker | Bang & Olufsen Beosound 2, brushed brass |
| Bracket | STB Beosound 2 wall bracket (ordered from the UK), black |
| Height | About 70″ from the floor to the bottom of the speaker |
| Fasteners | Four 2″ screws into studs, three supplied screws into the speaker base |
| Power | Outlet hidden behind the in-wall iPad, cable routed inside the wall |
| Control | Bang & Olufsen app and a Beoremote Halo in the kitchen, grouped with the Beosound A9 and other B&O speakers |
| Time | Prep and rough-in take longer than the install itself |
A Teenage Obsession That Ended Up on My Kitchen Wall

Since my teenage years I have followed anything Bang & Olufsen made in Denmark. The build quality, the futuristic design, all of it. The Beosound 2 is no exception: a solid aluminum cone (mine in brushed brass), a slotted grille, and a shape that reads as a piece of art on the wall. That was the point.
Beosound 2 Wall Mount Height: B&O’s Guidance vs. Mine

Bang & Olufsen’s guidance is to keep the speaker away from corners and away from the ceiling, roughly 42 to 48 inches from the floor to the bottom of the speaker.
I had one narrow strip of wall available. It was that spot or no speaker at all. And it sits right on the walkway through the kitchen, where we pass a hundred times a day. So I mounted it higher: about 70 inches from the floor to the bottom of the speaker.
I know it is high. It is not where it is supposed to go. But this is a kitchen, not a recording studio. It had to stay out of the way and off our shoulders. In our house it works as wall art first and a speaker second, and it still does the speaker job well, whether it is Sting or Bon Jovi while I cut onions or a full party in the warmer months.
Planning It During My DIY IKEA SEKTION Kitchen Install

The install was easy because the planning happened before drywall. During my DIY IKEA SEKTION kitchen install I marked the speaker location, put blocking where the bracket would land, and roughed in the box for the in-wall iPad directly below it. Power and routing were decided while the walls were still open.
The Speaker Is Heavier Than You Think
The spec sheet puts it around 10 pounds. Mine feels closer to 15 or 16. It is dense inside and aluminum outside. Do not hang it on drywall anchors. Find the studs.
Beosound 2 Wall Mount: The STB Bracket

I ordered the bracket from STB Brackets in the UK. They make purpose-built brackets for Bang & Olufsen speakers, and this one is made for the Beosound 2.
The bracket goes to the wall first. I used four 2-inch screws straight into the studs. On the bottom plate there are three holes, and STB supplies three screws that go up into the base of the speaker. Once those are snug, nothing moves.
It is powder-coated black, so it matches the black base of the speaker. Mounted, the bracket, the speaker and the wall read as one piece. It is pricey, and it is worth it: solid metal, clean contemporary lines. The detail I like most is the cable routing. The power cord runs through the bracket into the wall, so you never see it.

Solving the Power Problem With the In-Wall iPad

There was no outlet anywhere near that strip of wall. The speaker needs mains power, and I had nothing there.
What I did have was the in-wall iPad dock right below it. That iPad runs the house: Ring cameras, Google Home and the rest of the smart home apps. Behind it I had already built in a recessed outlet (a USB-equipped receptacle) for the iPad itself.
Code says an outlet cannot be buried in a wall, it has to stay accessible. The iPad lifts out of its SimpliDock mount with a suction cup, so the outlet and the wiring are always reachable. I took power for the speaker from that same box, routed the cord inside the wall up to the bracket, then painted, set the iPad back and hung the Beosound 2.
The speaker and the iPad ended up working as one unit. Same wall, same power, one clean composition.

Beoremote Halo, the B&O App and the Rest of the House

The Beosound 2 is controlled from the Bang & Olufsen app and from a Beoremote Halo that lives on the kitchen counter. It is grouped with our Beosound A9 and the other Bang & Olufsen speakers in the nearby rooms, so the same music follows you from the kitchen into the living spaces, or each room plays its own.
How It Looks and Sounds

Guests and neighbors ask about it constantly. Nobody guesses it is a speaker. They guess a sculpture, or some kind of wall art. It is wall art. It also sounds excellent.
I do not hear any distortion. It is closer to the ceiling than the guidance says, and it still fills the kitchen cleanly.
A Note for Beosound 2 Third-Generation Owners
The third-generation Beosound 2 has room-placement settings in the Bang & Olufsen app to compensate for where the speaker sits. With a 3rd gen you have more freedom to mount near a ceiling or a corner and correct for it in the app. This is a quick install post, so I will leave it there.
Quick Recap
- Four 2″ screws into the studs for the bracket
- Three STB-supplied screws from the bracket into the base of the speaker
- Power taken from the outlet behind the in-wall iPad, cable routed inside the wall
- Mounted about 70″ to the bottom of the speaker to clear the walkway
The prep takes longer than the install. Getting the wire into the wall properly and finding power were the real challenges. After that it is a wipe once a month and that is all.
Enjoy your projects and good luck.

Common Questions About Mounting a Beosound 2
Bang & Olufsen’s guidance is roughly 42 to 48 inches from the floor to the bottom of the speaker, away from corners and the ceiling. I mounted mine at about 70 inches because it sits on a busy kitchen walkway and lower would have been in the way. It still sounds clean at that height.
I used a purpose-built Beosound 2 wall bracket from STB Brackets in the UK. It screws to the studs, the speaker attaches from below with three supplied screws, and the power cable routes through the bracket into the wall.
The spec sheet puts it around 10 pounds. Mine feels closer to 15 or 16. Either way, mount the bracket into studs, not drywall anchors.
Plan it before drywall. I had no outlet nearby, so I took power from a recessed outlet behind my in-wall iPad and ran the cord inside the wall to the bracket. The iPad lifts out, so the outlet stays accessible.
Yes. Mine is controlled from the Bang & Olufsen app and a Beoremote Halo on the kitchen counter, and it is grouped with a Beosound A9 and other B&O speakers in nearby rooms.
In my kitchen I hear no distortion at 70 inches. The third-generation Beosound 2 adds room-placement settings in the app to compensate for ceiling or corner placement.
