Homeject (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit homeject.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. This policy applies to the Site only and not to anything we do off the Site.

1. Who we are

Homeject is a personal DIY home-improvement blog. The Site is operated from the United States. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at Homeject@yahoo.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and any other information you choose to provide.
  • Email. If you email us at Homeject@yahoo.com, we’ll have your email address and whatever you tell us in the message.
  • Newsletter (if/when offered). If you sign up for a newsletter, we’ll collect your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Information collected automatically

  • Log data. Like most sites, our hosting provider automatically logs IP address, browser type, referring page, pages viewed, and time of visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
  • Analytics. We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Jetpack Stats) to understand how readers use the Site. These tools may collect information about your device, browser, and pages you view.

3. How we use your information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
  • To respond to comments and emails.
  • To send the newsletter (if you signed up).
  • To understand which content is useful to readers.
  • To prevent spam, abuse, and security issues.
  • To comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How we share your information

We share information only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site (hosting, analytics, email delivery, spam filtering, comment moderation). They may only use the data to provide their service to us.
  • Legal reasons if required to comply with a law, court order, or lawful request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers if Homeject is sold or merged, in which case your information may transfer to the new owner.

5. Third-party services we currently use

  • WordPress.com / Automattic — hosting and core platform. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
  • Jetpack — site stats, security, and performance.
  • Akismet — spam filtering on comments. Akismet may receive your IP address, name, email, comment text, and other metadata. See Akismet’s Privacy Policy.
  • Embedded content from third parties (YouTube, Instagram, etc.) may set their own cookies and collect data about you. We don’t control those. Their privacy policies apply.

We do not currently run third-party display ads, affiliate programs, or sponsored content. If we add any of those in the future, we will update this policy and clearly disclose them.

6. Your choices

  • Comments. You can choose not to comment, or to comment using a name that doesn’t identify you.
  • Cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may break parts of the Site.
  • Newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Analytics opt-out. You can install browser tools like the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

7. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you and how we use it.
  • Request a copy or deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising).
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email Homeject@yahoo.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

8. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact Homeject@yahoo.com and we’ll delete it.

9. Data security

We use reasonable measures to protect information collected through the Site, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Data retention

We keep comments and their metadata indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to respond and for our records.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be noted on the Site.
