This Disclaimer applies to homeject.com (the “Site”) and to any related social channels (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.). By using the Site or following along on social, you agree to it. If you don’t, please don’t use the Site or attempt the projects shown.
1. Personal experience, not professional advice
Homeject is a personal blog. Everything we share — project walkthroughs, materials, costs, tools, opinions — reflects our own experience as a homeowner doing our own DIY work. We are not licensed contractors, electricians, plumbers, structural engineers, architects, or building inspectors.
Nothing on the Site is professional advice. It’s for informational and entertainment purposes only. For any project that involves structural, electrical, gas, plumbing, mechanical, or hazardous-materials work — or anywhere safety, code compliance, or insurance is at stake — consult a licensed professional and your local building department before you begin.
2. DIY work has real risk — you assume it
Home-improvement projects can cause serious injury, death, or property damage. Power tools, ladders, electricity, gas, structural loads, chemicals, finishes, dust, and falls are all dangerous if mishandled. You attempt any project on this Site at your own risk.
Before you start any project shown on the Site, you agree to:
- Read and follow all manufacturer instructions and safety warnings for the tools, equipment, and materials you use.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, gloves, etc.).
- Verify that the project is permitted in your area and complies with your local building codes, HOA rules, and any required permits.
- Hire licensed professionals for electrical, plumbing, gas, structural, roofing, and any other work that requires a license or permit in your area.
- Confirm that anything you do does not affect your homeowners insurance, warranties, or rental agreements.
- Stop and consult a professional any time you are unsure.
Homeject and its owners are not liable for any injury, illness, death, property damage, financial loss, code violation, permit issue, or other consequence resulting from your use of any information on the Site. You and any contractor or helper you involve are solely responsible for the safe, lawful execution of any project.
3. No guarantees of results, cost, or accuracy
We try to share accurate information, but we make no guarantee that anything on the Site is current, complete, or error-free. Costs, product availability, codes, and best practices change over time and vary by location. Numbers we share reflect what we paid in our region at the time we did the work; what you actually pay may be higher or lower. Your results will depend on your skills, tools, materials, conditions, and decisions, and may differ from ours.
4. Product and brand mentions
When we mention a specific product, brand, store, or service, it’s because we used it ourselves or have direct experience with it. Brand and product names belong to their respective owners. Mention is not endorsement by those brands of us, and not a guarantee that the product will work for your project.
5. Affiliate links, ads, and sponsored content
The Site does not currently run third-party display ads, affiliate programs, or paid sponsorships. If we add any of these in the future, we will:
- Update this Disclaimer to reflect the new arrangement.
- Disclose paid relationships clearly and conspicuously, in line with FTC guidelines (16 CFR Part 255).
- Continue to share our honest opinion regardless of any compensation. A paid relationship will never change what we recommend.
If you ever see an affiliate link or sponsored content on the Site, the post itself will say so.
6. External links
The Site links to outside websites for reference. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, products, services, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
7. Editorial independence
Opinions on the Site are our own. We do not accept payment to recommend a product as if we love it when we don’t. If we say a tool, material, or technique is good (or bad), it’s because that’s what we actually think after using it.
8. “As is” — limitation of liability
The Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Homeject and its owners disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, including any decision or project undertaken based on information from the Site. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
9. Changes
We may update this Disclaimer at any time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the current version.
